The Shiba inu is a dog breed that was originally bred to flush birds an small mammals. He is one of the six native japanese dog breeds: Akita, Kishu, Kai, Hokkaido, Shikoku. He is known for his spirited personality, small upright ears, and cat-like agility. Today he serves primarily as a companion dog in Europe and most parts of the world.
The Shiba Inu or Shiba Ken is the smallest and oldest of the Japan’s native breeds. It was bred to flush birds and small game and was occasionally used to hunt wild boar. He has great cultural significance in Japan and is considered a natural monument. It came close to extinction after WW II. Most Shiba Inu are now kept as pets. It was first brought to the U.S. in 1954.
The Shiba Inu is a foxy, medium-size, compact, and well muscled dog that is slightly longer than it is tall. It had a broad head with dark, upward-slanting eyes; a black nose; and small, erect ears. It is double coated with a dense outer coat in red, sesame (black-tipped hairs on a red background), or black with tan points. The undercoat is cream, buff or gray. The Shiba inu has a height of 13.5 to 16.5 inches or 35 to 42 cm. He is an athletic medium size dog and weight about 15 to 25 pounds. He moves quickly, nimbly, effortlessly.
The Shiba Inu is an alert, curious, intelligent dog with a lively, fun-loving personality. It is independent and know to wander. The Shiba Inu is certainly suitable as a house dog, he loves socializing of adults and children, including training, attend training, showing, agility and hunting he loves. He learns quickly (even the bad stuff !!) but can be very stubborn in there, it’s not a dog that naturally stays with you as he the loose outside, but that’s to teach him eventually. By nature he is a hunting small game, especially birds are jumping straight up plucked from the air.

When Shiba Inu you have to take into account his obstinacy, but other education gives no further problems.
He adapts well to family life if it is not demanding.
The Shiba is independent and quirky. focusing on their own family, alert and intelligent. Affectionate towards their own people, but reserved around strangers. The females are generally significantly sharper than males.
The Shiba Inu seems in many aspects to a cat. He is beautiful, independent and hardworking enough to have fun for hours. His striking looks and ideal size make him the happiest and brightest Japanese in the Western landscape.
Lovers who prefer the Akita Inu for its unique qualities found in the Shiba dog that offers the same features, but in a convenient package. It is a dignified, kind, faithful and watchful dog, with an independent character.
Bonjour Marleen, Un petit bonjour de Yuki qui aura 4 mois demain 28.06. Tout va bien, elle a énormement grandit. Il n’y a rien d’inquiétant , par contre elle ne mange pas trops bien. On doit insister parfois en lui donnant par la main. Il fait également très chaud les derniers jours. Bonjour, Ça fait seulement 2 semaines, que Yuki est avec nous. Elle se porte très bien, et elle a enormement changé depuis son arrivée. Nous sommes tous content, et attendons avec impatience les dernières vaccinations avant les petites excursions. Bien à vous.
